Yadong Guan

Pipa virtuoso and composer Yadong Guan was born in Beijing, China. Since the age of seven she has studied the Pipa guitar, a traditional Chinese instrument that has a history going back more then 2000 years. Today she makes her living performing around the world with a Trio group as well as her performances as a soloist. She has received media coverage from various newspapers, magazines, radio and television and has recorded several albums featuring original compositions on her Pipa guitar.

The official launch of Asian Heritage Month 2010 took place at Parliament Hill in the Nation's Capital. Representing Asian Culture was Pipa Virtuoso and composer Yadong Guan. She played two traditional Chinese songs titled, "Spring River" and "Folk Lore".
